A marine algae barrier cream designed to protect the skin from environmental aggressors, including particulate matter and heavy metals, while supporting the hydrolipid balance.
Biological rationale
In addition to UV radiation, the skin is constantly exposed to urban environmental stressors – fine particulate matter (PM), heavy metals, and gaseous pollutants. These settle on the skin surface and can penetrate the epidermis, triggering oxidative stress and a chronic low-grade inflammatory response. This accelerates photoageing and disrupts the skin barrier independently of direct sun exposure.
Mechanism of action
Protective level. Ascophyllum Nodosum Extract and Fucus Serratus Extract – mineral- and vitamin-rich brown algae extracts containing iodine, iron, magnesium, potassium, lutein, and B vitamins – form a protective barrier against environmental stressors, support the skin’s natural defence mechanisms, and provide antioxidant protection. Ascophyllum Nodosum is also suitable for skin showing signs of acne and rosacea.
Barrier-moisturising level. Sodium Hyaluronate, Squalane, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, and Glycerin help replenish the hydrolipid balance without a comedogenic effect.
Clinical profile
Indications: increased skin sensitivity associated with urban environmental factors, dehydration, signs of photoageing, irritated and reactive skin, and skin showing signs of acne and rosacea. Suitable for all skin types, non-comedogenic.
Visible result
With regular use, the skin becomes more resilient to the effects of the urban environment, while a stable level of hydration is maintained throughout the day. The appearance of irritation associated with pollutant exposure is reduced, and the skin looks calmer and more even in texture.
