Pigment Correct
A serum with a complex of tyrosinase inhibitors for correcting uneven pigmentation and maintaining a uniform skin tone.
Biological rationale
Tyrosinase is the key rate-limiting enzyme in melanin synthesis within melanocytes. Its activity increases under the influence of UV radiation, hormonal fluctuations such as pregnancy and perimenopause, and post-traumatic or post-procedure inflammatory signals, leading to excessive and uneven pigment deposition. With age and cumulative UV exposure, the skin’s natural ability to eliminate excess melanin decreases, making multi-step inhibition of melanogenesis a more effective approach than targeting a single pathway.
Mechanism of action
Tyrosinase level. Kojic Acid, Alpha-Arbutin, and Rumex Occidentalis Extract inhibit tyrosinase activity through different binding mechanisms, reducing the synthesis of new melanin.
Signalling level. Nonapeptide-1 blocks the melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) signalling pathway, the activity of which increases during pregnancy, excessive UV exposure, and certain endocrine disorders.
Barrier level. Sodium Hyaluronate provides hydration and improves the penetration of active ingredients.
Evidence base
In in vitro studies, Nonapeptide-1 reduced tyrosinase activity by 25-35% and melanin content in melanocytes by 27-43%. In a randomised placebo-controlled study (Mendoza et al.), a cream with 3% Rumex Occidentalis showed efficacy comparable to a reference depigmenting agent in patients with melasma.
Clinical profile
Indications: uneven pigmentation and dark spots associated with photodamage, hormonal fluctuations, or post-procedure / post-traumatic inflammation, as well as dull skin tone. Suitable for all skin types.
Visible result
With regular use, the appearance of dark spots and uneven pigmentation is reduced, while the skin tone becomes more uniform and radiant. The risk of post-procedure hyperpigmentation is reduced when used during the recovery period after traumatic effects on the skin.
